Kanye West calls Cardi B an "illuminati industry plant" in leaked 2018 video
It seems like rap superstar Cardi B is always the talk of the town, and this weekend was no exception. Footage from an unreleased 2018 Kanye West documentary hit the internet, and Kanye's comments about Cardi B created an uproar on social media.
In the video, Kanye, now going by "Ye" is ranting about various artists, including the "Bongos" rapper.
According to him, Cardi B is an "industry plant" masterminded by the Illuminati. He even goes as far as claiming she doesn't write her own rhymes and was intentionally placed to take Nicki Minaj's spot.
"Cardi B is a plant by the Illuminati," he said.
"She don’t write her raps. She just there to sound as ignorant as possible and then make songs like, ‘fuck them and get some money.’ She has literally replaced Nicki Minaj, purposely that they put her there, and now she doesn’t know what to do, and she has no idea what the fuck is going on. She thinks it’s just a blessing from the universe. It ain’t no blessing from the universe.”
The leaked footage sent Nicki Minaj's fans into a frenzy, using it to fuel their well-documented hatred for Cardi B. However, Cardi B didn't seem fazed. She responded by sharing a more recent video clip of Ye praising her in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked's Jason Lee.
In this clip, Ye makes it clear that he's always believed in Cardi B. Lee also noted that Kanye had previously hailed Cardi B as his "hero" for her unapologetic attitude and always speaking her mind.
It's really not all that surprising that Ye might have harbored negative feelings towards Cardi B, especially considering his previous close friendship with Cardi B's rival, Nicki Minaj. It seems he was just repeating the flase narratives that Minaj has been spreading about Cardi B for years.
However, it looks like he's had a change of heart after getting to know Cardi B himself, even collaborating with her and Lil Durk on their 2022 single "Hot Shit".
Cardi B's fans, on the other hand, couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the timing of the leaked video. It emerged right after Ye's unreleased track "New Body" was also leaked, featuring Minaj. She received high praise for her verse on the track.
Speculation started swirling that these leaks might have been a strategic move to boost Minaj's image while trying to stir up negativity towards Cardi B. Some even suspected that the leaks might have come directly from Minaj herself - an idea that is not farfetched considering Minaj's recent antics aimed at promoting her upcoming album.
But, Cardi B has responded maturely though it all. She went on to attend the final show of Beyonce's Renaissance World Tour in Kansas City right after the leaked videos, and clearly had a blast.
It's worth noting that Ye has been open about his struggles with mental health and bipolar disorder. He also made controversial remarks about other artists like Pusha T, Teyana Taylor, and Nas in the leaked videos. He even claimed that Corey Gamble was connected to the CIA. These comments were largely dismissed as the expressions of a person grappling with mental health challenges.
