Lil Kim graces the cover of Ebony magazine, credited for influencing today's female rappers
Ebony magazine is giving rap pioneer Lil Kim her well-deserved flowers as the Queen Bee is featured on one of the magazine's commemorative covers in recognition of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
It's no denying that female rap would not be where it is today without Lil Kim.
Her impact is seen everywhere, as nearly all current females in the industry have been inspired by Kim's work in some form or other.
Lil Kim however rarely gets the credit she deserves as some seek to downplay her contributions and achievements and erase her well-established legacy.
Ebony magazine is however making it clear that there is no hip-hop without Lil Kim.
In a heartfelt post, the magazine listed some of today's female rappers who have undoubtedly been inspired by Lil Kim
"As any Queen Bee does, Lil Kim’s example as a formidable female rapper birthed an undeniable blueprint with every move she made. You don’t have to look far for Lil Kim’s impact on Hip-Hop, its more evident than ever," the magazine posted. The magazine tagged rappers Nicki Minaj, Lola Brooke, the City Girls and Megan Thee Stallion as those who have clearly been influenced by Lil Kim's style, cadence and creativity.
In another post, the magazine quipped:
"The LilKim is and has always been “That B****.” If you’ve ever questioned why Lil Kim is a OG, all you need to do is listen to one of her songs or albums. In all her glory, Lil Kim graces our cover as only Hip-Hop royalty can👑."
We are happy to see Lil Kim getting the credit that she deserves as a major contributor to the development and evolution of female rap.
