Saweetie ridiculed after VMAs slip ups

Rapper Saweetie faced heavy ridicule following her appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night.

The "icy girl" raised eyebrows, showing up dressed in a Flinstones-inspired pink gown adorned with two large bones. Yes, bones.

The outfit earned her a spot on most worst-dressed lists but it was her poor performance as a host on the "pink carpet" that made her the trending topic of the night.

Saweetie struggled to read the teleprompter and messed up her lines on several occasions. On several other occasions, she missed her cue to speak leaving long, awkward pauses in the broadcast.

At one point, her co-host looked confused as she started touching her hair and zoning out while he waited for her to say her lines.

This caused viewers to question why she was hired for the gig.

"Saweetie proves time and time again that she really is just a pretty face," one Twitter user remarked.

"That teleprompter whooping Saweetie's ass," another person tweeted.

Despite the heavy criticsm, Saweetie seemed to take it all in stride.

While presenting on the main stage during the show, she acknowledged the social media uproar over her mess ups.

She said: "What's up? It's me again, and you better stop making my little video go viral, I see what you're doing."

She also seemed to not mind the criticism of her choice of dress, later saying that she loved the design.

"Shout out to Area. It's fresh off the runway," she said about the designer.

"I saw this like 48 hours ago. But the inspiration behind this is just fashion when it first started, caveman days."
